Inter RAO – Export and Energoimport sign two new contracts for supplies of equipment for thermal and hydro power generation in Cuba
Inter RAO Export LLC and Cuba’s Energoimport (a part of state-run Unión Eléctrica) have signed two contracts for supplies of power equipment to Cuba, including spare parts for small-scale hydro power plants and isolation valves for thermal power plants.
The first contract requires supply of equipment aimed at completion of installation, launch and operation of the earlier delivered Russian-made mini-HPPs. Under some previous contracts with Energoimort, Inter RAO – Export LLC supplied to Cuba ten hydro power machines with total installed capacity of 2.5 MW (made by INSET JSC, St. Peterburg, Russia), part of them are successfully launched.
The subject of the second contract is supply of back-flow valves (made by Boylex JSC, Chekhov, Russia) required for the steam turbine installed at one of Cuban TPPs. Such valves comprise a part of turbine’s automatic protection system. They are used, in particular, for preventing turbine acceleration by steam back-flow caused by load dump.
Totaled up, in 2016, Inter RAO – Export LLC and Energoimport have signed three contracts with an overall amount of EUR 2.7 million (earlier this year, the parties made a deal on supply of spare parts for 100 MW condensing turbines).
Inter RAO – Export LLC and Energoimport have a seven years long track record in cooperation for supplies of miscellaneous equipment and spare parts. From 2009 till 2015 the parties completed 26 contracts with a total value of more than EUR 12 million. The range of supplied products includes mini-HPPs, boiler equipment, pumps, pipes, pipeline valves, spare parts of the turbines and generators, overhead line towers and accessories.
